On our way up to "Nearly the End of the World"
Adam, John, Kim and I and our trusty Enterprise Mini Van, are on our way to La Crete. We hope to arrive tomorrow, June 25, in time to do a bit of cycling around the town, and then head south, with John and Adam cycling the first leg of what will be, we hope, 1500 km of cycling over the next two weeks. A lot of people are supporting this project, as is the press. Tomorrow morning, the Northern Pioneer will meet us at the New EMC Church, along with some local cyclists ... to talk about "Cycle for Life: Build Peace. Stop AIDS." Very exciting. Piles of work. Urgent work. 5500 people die, every day, of AIDS related diseases. It's an acquired immuno deficiency virus that makes its victims vulnerable to infection and other illnesses, such as malaria and TB. MCC, in 10 years working, has connected with over 18,000,000 people in prevention education and support work, and in helping partner organizations to look after orphaned children.
